Ducting & Zoning
Ducting & Zoning
Ducting is the hard pipe and flex that carries conditioned air from the equipment out to each room, and this service covers installing it new, replacing runs that are past saving, and zoning a house so separate areas are controlled on their own. When those runs sit in an attic they are in the hottest space in the building, which is the worst place to be losing air you already paid to cool. Eddie measures airflow at every register before anything is opened up, so the starved runs are identified rather than guessed at, then traces those runs for leaks, crushing and undersizing. Runs get replaced and sealed, or dampers and controls go in where zoning is the better answer. Every register is measured again at the end, so the room that was always hotter has a number on it before and after instead of a promise that the work helped. Homes, new construction and light commercial, across San Diego, the South Bay and East County.

Frequently Asked Questions
One bedroom is always hotter than the rest of the house. Why?
Almost always the ducting rather than the equipment. A crushed, leaking, disconnected or undersized run to that room means it never gets its share of the air, while the thermostat in the hallway reports that everything is fine. We measure airflow at each register to find which run is starving.
Should I fix the ducts before replacing the system?
Yes, or at least at the same time. Ducting is the delivery system, and a large share of the money spent on conditioned air is lost before it reaches a room. Putting new equipment on bad ducts usually just moves the same complaint onto newer hardware.
What is zoning and do I need it?
Zoning splits the house into separately controlled areas with dampers so each one gets what it needs. It is the real fix for a two story home where upstairs and downstairs will never agree on a temperature, and it can be retrofitted onto a system you already have.
Do I need a full re-duct or can you replace individual runs?
Either. If the trunk is sound and two runs are bad, we replace those two. If the whole system is failing, undersized or full of old material, a full re-duct is the honest answer. We inspect and tell you which one you are actually looking at.
How do you know the ducting work actually fixed it?
We measure at every register before and after, then balance the system across rooms. Duct work that is not verified with numbers is guesswork, and the room that was hot before is the one you will notice if it was not really fixed.
