Mabuhay, And Welcome To CrossBreeze

Our Story

CrossBreeze Heating and Air started in 2018 with Eddie Layola and a simple idea about how an HVAC visit should go. You call, Eddie comes out, he looks at what you actually have, and he tells you the truth about it before anyone quotes a part.

He earned his California C20 heating and air conditioning license in 2019 and built the company out of Mira Mesa, working across San Diego, the South Bay and East County. Most of the work still arrives the way it did in the first year, from one homeowner telling a neighbor.

Read the reviews and a pattern shows up. He found the problem the last company missed. He said the repair somebody else was selling was not needed. He cleaned up before he left. Every review CrossBreeze has earned on Google is a five star review, and that is the part of the business Eddie cares about most.

The tagline is Quality Air With Care, and the care is the point. Shoes off at the door, the work area cleaned up, a straight number before anything starts, and a system sized to the house instead of matched to whatever was there before.

Today CrossBreeze installs, repairs and maintains air conditioning, furnaces, heat pumps, mini splits, ducting and whole house fans for homes, new construction and light commercial, licensed, bonded and insured under CSLB #1055889.

Mabuhay!

Filipino Owned, And It Shows Up In The Work

Mabuhay is a Filipino greeting. It means long life, and it is how you welcome somebody into your home.

CrossBreeze is a Filipino owned heating and air company. Eddie founded it in 2018 and we have said Mabuhay on every job since.

We are proud of our Filipino heritage and we want it to shine through in everything we do. Mabuhay is more than just a word. It is a reminder that we bring warmth, care and authenticity to every job.

In practice that means we take our shoes off, we clean up after ourselves, and we tell you the truth about your system even when the truth costs us the sale.

A lot of our customers are kababayan who found us the way Filipino families find everybody, through somebody they trust. We are honored by that, and every home in San Diego County is welcome here.

How We Work

The things customers keep writing in reviews, written down as the rules we hold ourselves to.

Honest before it is profitable

If the repair someone else is selling is not needed, Eddie says so. If the system is past saving, he says that too, before you have spent money finding out.

You get Eddie, not a call center

The person who answers, the person who comes out, and the person whose name is on the company are usually the same person.

Mabuhay hospitality

Mabuhay is how you welcome somebody into your home, and it works the other way too. Shoes off, the work area left clean, and the same warmth in your house that we would want in ours.

Sized right, sold straight

We measure the house rather than matching the old unit, and we explain what each option costs to run, not just what it costs to buy.

A straight number first

No price quoted sight unseen. Eddie looks at what you have and gives you a number before any work starts, with financing at 2.99% through Housecall Pro if you want it.

Licensed, bonded and insured

California C20 license held since 2019, CSLB #1055889, bonded and carrying workers compensation, so the person in your attic is covered.

Questions About CrossBreeze

Will Eddie be the one who comes to my house?

Most of the time, yes. Eddie Layola founded CrossBreeze in 2018 and still handles most estimates and service calls himself rather than sending a commissioned salesperson ahead of a crew. That is why the diagnosis you get is the one the owner stands behind, and it is why the reviews keep mentioning that he found what a previous company missed.

Is CrossBreeze a small local company or part of a franchise?

Small and local. It is an owner operated company Eddie started in 2018, working out of a shop at 9014 Flanders Dr in Mira Mesa, San Diego. There is no call center and no franchise behind it. Most of the work arrives by referral from a neighbor or a previous customer, which only keeps happening if the advice stays straight every time.

How can I check that CrossBreeze is licensed?

Search license number 1055889 on the California Contractors State License Board register at https://www.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicenseII/CheckLicense.aspx. It shows the C20 heating and air conditioning classification, issued in 2019, along with the contractor bond and the workers compensation coverage. Checking a contractor's license before anyone opens an electrical panel in your house is worth the two minutes it takes, on any company you call.

What should I ask an HVAC contractor before hiring one?

Ask for the license number and actually look it up, then ask which classification it carries, because heating and air is C20 and plenty of general contractors do not hold it. Ask whether the person diagnosing the problem is the same person who has to stand behind the fix. Ask about the bond and the workers compensation. CrossBreeze answers all of that with CSLB #1055889, held since 2019.

What do CrossBreeze customers say in reviews?

The rating is 5.0 stars across 26 Google reviews. The theme that repeats is honesty rather than speed or price. One customer describes Eddie spotting a gas pipe problem the builder had left behind that no previous technician had mentioned, and telling him a damper another company wanted to replace was working fine. Others mention the work finishing inside the time frame quoted and the site left tidy.

What does CrossBreeze not do?

Three things worth knowing before you call. We are not a 24 hour emergency service, so a system that quits at midnight gets seen in the morning. We do not take on big commercial jobs, only light commercial alongside homes and new construction. And we do not do water source heating. If you need any of those, a specialist will serve you better.
