Heating & Air Conditioning in Rancho Penasquitos, CA

PQ sits inland on the north side of Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve, about 8 miles from the coast, and that distance from the water is the first thing Eddie thinks about when he looks at a system here.

Serving Rancho Penasquitos and Surrounding Areas

Rancho Penasquitos is inland, roughly 8 miles from the coast, on the north side of Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve. Homes this far from the water lean on their air conditioning more than the beach communities do, so cooling gets sized and serviced with that in mind. The land was bought for a planned community in 1962 and most of it was annexed by San Diego in 1964, and today about 60,000 people live in the 92129 zip. CrossBreeze is about 9 minutes from the shop in Mira Mesa, just south across the canyon.

CrossBreeze covers all of Rancho Penasquitos and the communities around it, including Black Mountain Ranch, Sabre Springs, Carmel Mountain Ranch, and Torrey Highlands. Cooling is the main job here. We do AC repair when a system quits in the middle of summer, and AC installation and replacement when a unit is past saving. Ducting and zoning helps two story homes stop fighting over one thermostat, and attic fans and whole house fans take the edge off before the AC has to run. A heat pump covers heating and cooling in one system, and it suits a lot of homes in PQ. We also do furnace and heating repair and HVAC maintenance and tune ups. Eddie comes out, looks at what you have, and gives you a straight number before any work starts. Kababayan in PQ call CrossBreeze, and everyone is welcome. Licensed C20, CSLB #1055889, 5.0 stars on 26 Google reviews.

CrossBreeze tech running an insulation resistance test on an AC condenser in San Diego

AC Repair

Rancho Penasquitos is roughly 8 miles from the coast, so the air conditioner runs more hours here than it would closer to the water. AC repair covers a system that runs but will not cool, one that short cycles, one that leaks refrigerant, or one that will not start at all. Eddie does the diagnosis himself, so the person telling you what went wrong is the person who has to stand behind the fix. Nobody hands you a number over the phone without looking at the equipment first, and if the honest answer is that the system is past repairing, you hear that too.

Innovair mini split condenser installed on a pad beside a San Diego patio

Mini Split Installation

A ductless mini split is a heating and cooling system that mounts on the wall and connects to an outdoor unit through a small line set, so it needs no ductwork at all. In Rancho Penasquitos that usually means a converted garage, an ADU, a bonus room over the garage, or an upstairs room the existing ducting never reached. Each head is its own zone, so you are not paying to condition the whole house to fix one room. Eddie does the room survey himself, measuring square footage, sun exposure and how the room actually gets used, before anyone quotes a head.

AC Installation & Replacement

Rancho Penasquitos sits inland on the north side of Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve, about 8 miles from the coast, so a system here runs more hours than one closer to the water. Sizing is the part that gets skipped, and we size off the house rather than matching whatever was there before, because an oversized system short cycles and wears itself out early. Eddie comes out, looks at what you have, and gives you a straight number before anything is ordered. Financing runs 2.99% through Housecall Pro, or 50% down with the balance spread over one to three years.

CrossBreeze tech replacing a furnace hot surface igniter during a repair call

Furnace & Heating Repair

Furnace repair is the diagnosis and correction of a heating system that will not ignite, will not stay lit, or blows air that never gets warm. Furnaces in Rancho Penasquitos sit unused for most of the year, which is exactly why they fail on the first cold night. Usually the fault is a dirty flame sensor, a failed igniter, a stuck pressure switch or a filter clogged after months of standing still, and those are the first things we check. Eddie looks at the system before he gives a number, so nothing gets quoted over the phone.

Whole House Fan

A whole house fan is a ceiling mounted fan that pulls cool outside air in through open windows and pushes the hot air trapped in your house out through the attic vents. It is not air conditioning and it does not replace it. Rancho Penasquitos sits about 8 miles inland, so the house is still holding the afternoon long after the outside air has cooled off, and the fan is what trades one for the other. The attic has to have enough vent area to exhaust it or the fan just fights itself, so Eddie looks at the attic before any of it gets quoted.

What Your Neighbors Say About Eddie

Every review CrossBreeze has earned on Google is a five star review. Here are a few of them.

Honesty is the first thing that one expects from any professional offering their services and cost comes second. I had Eddie come for an estimate and before even he could give me one he pointed a glaring technical potential disastrous gas pipe to the furnace by the builder which no other service technician EVER pointed out. That goes to show how professionally sound he is. Another company after inspection told me that one of the dampers didn't work so I discussed it with Eddie as well. He spent time investigating that and told me that was NOT the case and dampers were fine. Honesty!!! is very big with us.

"I highly recommend Eddie and Crossbreeze Heating & Air. He came highly recommended by my plumber and wow, when our minisplits went out, he responded promptly and came right away to assess the situation. He was professional, timely, considerate, honest, and simply wonderful. Our other AC went out on the day he arrived and he took care of that as well all within the time frame he quoted us. His work was very good and he cleaned everything up leaving things tidy."

How far is CrossBreeze from Rancho Penasquitos?

How do I get a quote in Rancho Penasquitos?

Call 760-715-0523 or send a message and Eddie comes out to look at what you have. CrossBreeze does not quote a price sight unseen, because the right number depends on the size of the system your home needs and the shape your ducting is in. You get a straight number before any work starts.

Do you offer financing for Rancho Penasquitos homeowners?

Yes. Financing is available at 2.99% through Housecall Pro, or you can put 50% down and take one to three years to pay the rest.

Are you licensed and insured?

Does being inland change what my AC needs in Rancho Penasquitos?

Yes. PQ is about 8 miles from the coast, so the air conditioner runs more hours here than it would closer to the water. Regular maintenance and tune ups matter more when a system works that much, and ducting and zoning helps homes that have hot rooms upstairs. Eddie looks at the house before he recommends anything.

Do you offer AC repair in Rancho Penasquitos, 92129?

Yes. CrossBreeze Heating and Air covers all of Rancho Penasquitos and the 92129 zip, along with Black Mountain Ranch, Sabre Springs, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Torrey Highlands and Del Mar Mesa. PQ is about a nine minute drive for us. Call 760-715-0523.

Will you try to repair my air conditioner before replacing it?

Eddie diagnoses the system first and tells you what actually failed. If the repair is worth doing, you get a number for the repair. If the system is past repairing, you hear that instead. Either way the number comes after he has looked at the equipment, never over the phone.

Is a heat pump a good option for my home in Rancho Penasquitos?

Often yes. A heat pump cools in summer and reverses to heat in winter, and San Diego winters are mild enough that it does not lose much efficiency here. For a house facing both a new AC and an aging furnace, one heat pump replaces two pieces of equipment. Eddie checks the ducting and the electrical panel in person first, and if a straight AC and furnace pairing fits your house better he will say so.
