Serving Clairemont and Surrounding Areas
Clairemont sits near the coast, about 4 miles from the water, on gently rolling sandstone mesas. Tecolote Canyon runs through the center and San Clemente Canyon runs along the north side. This close to the ocean, outdoor units pick up salt and moisture from the air over the years, so maintenance matters here. Clairemont was San Diego's largest post war subdivision, with people moving in starting in May 1951, and many of the single family homes, duplexes and apartments date from that era. Clairemont is about 16 minutes from the CrossBreeze shop in Mira Mesa.
CrossBreeze covers all of Clairemont, from North Clairemont through Clairemont Mesa East and Clairemont Mesa West down to Bay Park and Bay Ho. A lot of the homes here were built in the early 1950s, and mini split installation is a good fit for older houses and additions that never had proper ducting. For many of these homes a heat pump makes sense, since it handles heating and cooling in one system. Whole house fans are a good option here too, pulling outside air through the house in the evening instead of running the AC. We also do AC repair, AC installation and replacement, furnace and heating repair, HVAC maintenance and tune ups, attic fans, and ducting and zoning. Eddie comes out himself, looks at what you have, and gives you a straight number before any work starts. Licensed C20, CSLB #1055889, 5.0 stars on 26 Google reviews.

AC Repair
Clairemont sits about 4 miles from the water on gently rolling sandstone mesas, and salt and moisture in the coastal air work on outdoor coils and cabinets over the years. That turns up as a system that runs but will not cool, one that short cycles, or one that will not start at all. Eddie does the diagnosis himself, so the person telling you what failed is the person who has to stand behind the fix. You get a straight number before any repair starts, and nothing is quoted over the phone.

Mini Split Installation
A ductless mini split mounts on the wall and connects to an outdoor unit through a small line set, so it needs no ductwork at all. In Clairemont that answers the early 1950s houses and the duplexes, along with any addition or converted garage the ducting never reached. Each head is its own zone, so you are not conditioning the whole house to fix one warm room. Eddie does the room survey himself, measuring square footage, sun exposure and how the room actually gets used, before anyone quotes a head.

AC Installation & Replacement
Clairemont was San Diego's largest post war subdivision, with people moving in starting in May 1951, so many of the single family homes, duplexes and apartments here are on their second or third system by now. Sizing is the part that gets skipped. We size off the house instead of matching whatever was there before, because an oversized system short cycles and wears itself out early. Eddie comes out, looks at what you have, and gives you a straight number before anything is ordered.

Furnace & Heating Repair
Clairemont is coastal and mild, so furnaces here sit unused for most of the year, which is exactly why they fail on the first cold night. Usually it is a dirty flame sensor, a failed igniter, a stuck pressure switch or a filter clogged after months of standing still, and those are the first things we check. Eddie looks at the system before he gives a number, so nothing gets quoted over the phone. A cracked heat exchanger we treat as a carbon monoxide question, not as something to patch.

HVAC Maintenance & Tune Ups
Seasonal tune ups that catch the cheap problem before it becomes the expensive one.

Whole House Fan
A whole house fan is a ceiling mounted fan that pulls cool outside air in through open windows and pushes the hot air trapped in the house out through the attic vents. Clairemont sits about 4 miles from the water, and the evening air outside is usually cooler than the air the house has been holding since the afternoon. That trade is the whole point of the fan. It is not air conditioning and it does not replace it.

Every review CrossBreeze has earned on Google is a five star review. Here are a few of them.
Honesty is the first thing that one expects from any professional offering their services and cost comes second. I had Eddie come for an estimate and before even he could give me one he pointed a glaring technical potential disastrous gas pipe to the furnace by the builder which no other service technician EVER pointed out. That goes to show how professionally sound he is. Another company after inspection told me that one of the dampers didn't work so I discussed it with Eddie as well. He spent time investigating that and told me that was NOT the case and dampers were fine. Honesty!!! is very big with us.

"I highly recommend Eddie and Crossbreeze Heating & Air. He came highly recommended by my plumber and wow, when our minisplits went out, he responded promptly and came right away to assess the situation. He was professional, timely, considerate, honest, and simply wonderful. Our other AC went out on the day he arrived and he took care of that as well all within the time frame he quoted us. His work was very good and he cleaned everything up leaving things tidy."

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers for Clairemont homeowners.
How far is CrossBreeze from Clairemont?
Our shop is at 9014 Flanders Dr in Mira Mesa, San Diego, and Clairemont is about 16 minutes away in normal traffic. We schedule Clairemont calls with that drive in mind, so the time we give you is the time we mean.
When can I reach you for a Clairemont service call?
We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 4pm. We are not a 24 hour emergency service, so if a system quits at midnight the honest answer is that we will see you in the morning, and we book same or next day where the schedule allows.
How do I get a quote in Clairemont?
Call 760-715-0523 or send a message and Eddie comes out to look at what you have. CrossBreeze does not quote a price sight unseen, because the right number depends on the size of the system your home needs and the shape your ducting is in. You get a straight number before any work starts.
Do you offer financing for Clairemont homeowners?
Yes. Financing is available at 2.99% through Housecall Pro, or you can put 50% down and take one to three years to pay the rest.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. CrossBreeze holds California C20 heating and air conditioning license CSLB #1055889, issued in 2019, carries a contractor bond and workers compensation, and is rated 5.0 stars across 26 Google reviews.
What services do you offer in Clairemont?
Here is the full list, in Clairemont and everywhere we work. AC Repair, Mini Split Installation, AC Installation & Replacement, Furnace & Heating Repair, HVAC Maintenance & Tune Ups, Whole House Fan, Heat Pump Installation, Attic Fan Installation, Ducting & Zoning. Homes, new construction and light commercial.
Does the coastal air in Clairemont affect my AC or heat pump?
Yes. Clairemont is about 4 miles from the water, and salt and moisture in the air wear on outdoor coils and cabinets over time. Regular HVAC maintenance and tune ups help outdoor units last longer. Eddie will look at your unit and tell you where it stands.
Will you push me toward a new system I do not need?
No. Eddie does the diagnosis himself and gives you a straight number before any repair starts. If the honest answer is that the system is past repairing, you hear that too. Nobody gives you a price over the phone without looking at the equipment first.
How much does a whole house fan cost to install in Clairemont?
It depends on the airflow your house needs and on the vent area your attic already has, so we do not quote a price sight unseen. Eddie looks at the attic first, measures the joist spacing, clearance and existing vent area, then gives you a number before any work starts. Financing runs 2.99% through Housecall Pro, or 50% down with the balance over one to three years.
Which mini split brands do you install in Clairemont?
Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Daikin and Samsung. Sizing matters more than brand here, so Eddie surveys the room, its square footage, sun exposure and how it actually gets used, before anyone quotes a head. We also service mini splits we did not install.
What furnace brands do you repair in Clairemont?
Goodman, Trane, Carrier, Bryant, York and Mitsubishi, on gas furnaces and on heat pump heating. We work on systems another company installed. If your brand is not on that list, call and ask.
Do you check the blower and airflow on a furnace repair call?
Yes. We watch the system try to start so we can see where the sequence breaks, then test the flame sensor, igniter, pressure switch, limit and blower in order. If the real complaint turns out to be poor airflow rather than no heat, that is ducting and zoning work, and there Eddie measures airflow at every register so the starved runs are identified rather than guessed at.
